2023 NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS

All nominations received are eligible for consideration for both the Los Cien Puente & Ganas Awards and Luther Burbank Center for the Arts Latino Community Leadership Awards.

Please submit nomination material by April 3, 2023. Additional letters of reference or support may be requested. Nominators will be notified if their nominee is selected for either award.

ABOUT THE AWARDS

Los Cien Puente & Ganas Awards

One Puente & Ganas Award will be awarded to an “Individual,” and one Puente & Ganas Award will be awarded to a “Group/Organization/Business.” Recipients of the awards will be presented at the Los Cien Puente & Ganas Awards on June 24, 2023.

LBC Latino Community Leadership Awards

The Latino Community Leadership Awards are presented annually as a part of Luther Burbank Center for the Arts’ Fiesta de Independencia event. One award will be presented to an “Individual,” and another to a “Group/Organization/Business”. Recipients of the awards will be recognized onstage at Fiesta de Independencia on September 10, 2023. Award recipients will be selected in Fall 2023.

Please ensure the nominee can attend the in-person events. Nominators are encouraged to attend as well. All nominations will receive acknowledgment upon receipt. If selected, the information provided may be printed in the awards event program and released to the media.

NOMINATION CRITERIA

Nominees for both “Individual” and “Group/Organization/Business” categories will be evaluated on the following pillars:

Engagement: This nominee has served as a role model within and has truly engaged with the Latino community. They have built new bridges, coalitions, collaborations, or have a strong presence/history of bringing people together. This nominee demonstrates taking the initiative and tackling the issue/challenge with power and conviction.

Elevation: This nominee has made a clear and significant impact on their community, which has elevated new members to step up and lead, feel empowered, or increase confidence and self-esteem. They have brought important conversations, data, topics, and issues to the forefront and ensured that issues that impact the Latino community are addressed. This nominee is a true leader in the Latino community.

Service: This nominee goes above and beyond expectations. They work long hours, go beyond the job description, and can only be described as passionate, dedicated, and tireless in their commitment to serving the Latino community.

Innovation: This nominee is constantly looking for ways to improve. Their work has spurred changes within organizations or systems that benefit the Latino community. Their commitment to excellence has created a legacy of change and opportunities for others to follow.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Nominations must be received before 6pm April 3, 2023 to be considered.
  • You are welcome to submit nominations for both categories on separate applications.
  • Self-nominations are welcome.
  • Before nominating, please inform the nominee and confirm that they are available to attend the in-person events.
  • You can submit your nomination in the following ways: fill out and submit through Google Form; print, fill out, and email PDF to ellen@loscien.org; or submit a video recording answering the questions to P&G Video Submission.
